- Description
- April Cottage is a 19th century, end terrace of three cottages on the main street in Thurlestone. Its cosy frontage belies the spaciousness within. It has been lovingly restored, whilst retaining its character and charm, and is furnished and equipped to a luxurious level by the designer owners, who purchased it in 1997.
There is a lovely light sitting room, dining area and a large well-equipped kitchen and shower room on the ground floor. On the first floor are a double (with sea views) and a twin bedroom and main bathroom. A spiral staircase leads up to the second floor twin bedroom, with en suite loo and vanitory unit. Two Velux windows give great views over rolling countryside and the sea. Behind the cottage is a small enclosed garden with garden furniture and barbecue. There is street parking for one car immediately outside the cottage and there is a village car park by the village hall. Please be considerate to residents of other properties.
April Cottage is 'a home from home', rather than a commercial 'holiday let'. The owner loves it and hopes you will also love and respect it. There are original paintings and sculpture, books, TV, video and hi-fi to make your stay more enjoyable.
Well-behaved children are very welcome. We provide a highchair and travel cot, but please bring your own bedding. Certain well-disciplined pets are permitted by prior agreement only. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the cottage: addicts please go outside! - Sea Views

- Thurlestone is built on a hill, flowing down to the sea cliffs. There are picturesque houses, many thatched, which have been virtually untouched by time. There are no streetlights (so a torch is handy) and there is no through traffic so it is quiet at night.
There are several beaches, but two main accesses:the village beach is accessed by a footpath across the golf course; Thurlestone Rock beach can be reached by car or by the coastal path. There are acres of sand and areas of rock pools for exploring. Surfing is possible; particularly good at Bantham beach. - Directions
- From the A38 take the exit marked Loddiswell. After Sorley Tunnel Centre, take next turn right. Go through Churchstow and turn left towards Salcombe at roundabout. Take right turn to Thurlestone (single track in parts).
